Stacia D. Kelly, PhD, MHt
Stacia D. Kelly, PhD, MhT- Director MBS Works
Dr. Kelly has been acting as a life coach and role model since the early 90′s. Health and fitness is a way of life, not just a quick fix, so she practices martial arts, creates sculptures and paintings, writes and manages a household with three cats, a husband and a wonderful son—the reasons she practices Holistic Health Care, all while living in the here and now.
In 2006, she became a nationally ranked NPA Figure Competitor, placing third in her class first time out. When she realized she loved the competition and the training, but her focus and life calling was more towards the martial arts, she has specialized in martial arts training.
She’s participated with the American Tae Kwon Do Association (ATA) and after 5+ years of training holds a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. She is now studying under 6th degree black belt, Tom Callos and working on becoming a Rape Prevention Instructor with the Fight Like a Girl program. (And yes, she’s still in the gym as strength training much as possible to build power and doing cardio – as much as she hates cardio…she’s there, logging 20+ miles a week, however she can.) She is currently participating in the Ultimate Black Belt Challenge, and a active member of Everything Self Defense and the New Way Network.
Psst, YES, she’s a mom and wife too. Her son is 6 years old going on 20 with the way he’s been testing her lately, and her husband is a god-send because he deals with all her crazy endeavors.
Stacia’s experience includes corporate wellness program development, personal health & wellness planning, nutritional counseling, fitness planning, group training, individual hypnosis programs and script development, and corporate and educational training seminars.Stacia is a past member of the Prince William County Chamber of Commerce and BNI’s Woodbridge Connection.
She is currently developing a Martial Arts/Fitness program for the House, a Leadership program for at risk youth in her home town and preparing to expand it into the schools of Prince William County. She (along with her husband, Nick Kelly) is also a Court Appointed Special Advocate for Abused and Neglected Children (CASA) in Prince William County. She and her husband are actively working on building KittenKlaws, a non profit dedicated to providing health and safety training to at risk youth.
Stacia obtained her BA from Virginia Tech, her Master’s from George Mason University and her PhD from the American Institute of Holistic Theology, with a lot of other certifications and degrees in between including a stint in Paris and at George Washington University for a few certificates.
Stacia’s background includes:
- A Doctor of Holistic Health (PhD) & Master Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist (MHt)
- A Member of the American Holistic Health Association
- A Certified Hypnotherapist & Registered Hypnotherapist with the American Board of Hypnotherapy
- A Certified Personal Trainer with Exercise Science Alliance and IDEA
- A NESTA Certified Holistic Stress Management Specialist and NESTA Certified Sports Hypnotist
- YogaFit for Kids® Instructor, YogaFit Levels I & II
- Certified, Holistic Life Coach
- An author and lecturer
- DC Martial Arts Examiner for Examiner.com
- Co-Host: Everything Self Defense
- Clinical Hypnotherapist Expert on ACSS Transitions
- Founder, Stop Bullying Now – Prince William County
- 1st Degree Black Belt, TKD
In addition to being a Director with ACSS Transitions, Stacia can be found at Mind-Body-Spirit Works, Clinical Hypnotherapy and Holistic Healthcare. She founded CatKlaw, Inc. in 1994 as a marketing and branding company which also serves as to help provide management and marketing to artists in all their endeavors. Her fiction writing and passion can be found at Sybir.com. Be warned, she leans towards the esoteric and has a passion for the paranormal.
Dr. Kelly can be reached at 703.597.2951 or email at staciakelly at gmail.com (If you want a faster response, email is the safest bet as she does NOT answer the phone for numbers not already in her phone and is usually busy, focused, on a project.)
As an aside, she loves languages, arts, and other cultures. So, you can probably find her studying Swedish or Chinese lately, just because something tickled her to do so.
She is currently focused on helping clients learn to heal themselves and to make strides in their athletic endeavors. She’s just founded Studio13 – getting out of the dojo and into the community – where community members help teach at risk youth and schools about bullying, self defense, fitness and nutrition. She has several books in progress, a few fiction and a few non fiction. Check the ACSS site for the most recent non-fiction.
Upcoming events include working on her 2nd Degree Black Belt via the UBBT, attending the annual RWA conference, obtaining the next level in YogaFit‘s instructor program, and working on teaching others to slow down, breathe, focus and achieve.
Nick Kelly – Certified Team Leader – Healthy for Life
Nick Kelly is enamored by the benefits of exercise and nutrition.
He is a former football, baseball and hockey player, and regularly engages in cycling in running in his fundraising efforts. Nick changed his diet and exercise routine, because of his wife’s focus on bodybuilding and training, resulting in a drop of over 40 pounds. He’s always said he has a hard time keeping up with her, yet continues to do it and exceed her goals.
He is a certified team leader with Dr. Ray Strand’s Healthy for Life program, and a strong spokesman against the ongoing childhood obesity epidemic. He has taught teen and tween nutrition for local nonprofit organizations. He is an active participant on the USANA Social Media network, teaching others how to use online technologies to educate others in health and wellness.
Nick can often be seen promoting the healthy energy drink, Rev3, at local sporting events. While he prefers the Surge packs, he’s bowed to Dr. Kelly’s love of the Rev3 cans and keeps a blend available in the house hold to support whatever athletic endeavors either of them sets out to tackle.
Nick is a co-founder of Studio 13 and teaches Nutrition and Fitness to at risk youth.
